San Leandro - San Francisco

We thought it would be nice to tell our last story in English (we don't tell it took at least one hour more to write it). We don't speak Dutch to each other anymore either

Tongue out
.

We hadn't clean the RV yet so we stand up early this morning. At 9 am we left the campground and went to the rent station Cruise America to return the RV. We filled the fuel tank for the last time for $60. Everything was fortunately OK so we got our $500 surety back. They called ataxi to pick us up and he was already there within 15 minutes. After half an hour we arrived at the hotel Best Western el Rancho Inn and checked in. It was only 11 am when we could enter our room. It was beautiful weather today and it was not that far away to downtown San Francisco so we decided to go there. The receptionist of the hotel told us how to go by BART (=the public transit here). Within half an hour we stepped out at Powell Street where Union Square is stationed. It looks like ‘Beurs' in Rotterdam, but much bigger of course.

Many shops and also strange people including wanderers. We still had a lot of small change and gave it to such a wanderer.

We also saw the famous cablecar at close and we were even in the opportunity to stand on it for a while to may a picture. Nice! And that without paying...

We guess we walked 5 miles and were really tired after that. At 4 pm we went back to our hotel. But not before we took our last Big Mac and a McFlurry at McDonalds here across the street
Laughing
. Now it's time for a normal shower and a really nice big bed. Tomorrow we will picked up by an airport shuttlebus at 12.30 pm and fly at 15.50 pm local time. We will arrive at Thursday 11.05 am on Schiphol local time. The flightnumber is KL606 for those who are interesting.

Some statistics:

We drove totally 3198 miles and that means 5116 kilometers. So we tanked 336 gallon (=1280 liter). The price of a gallon is average $3 so you can calculate how much money we spent on gasoline

Surprised
.

We don't tell you the statistics of our weight

Wink
.

Last but not least we want to thank everybody for the nice interesting, support and reactions on our site. We really liked it. We were very surprised to see how many visitors we had on our site (average 120 till 150 each day!). Thanks again!

The last message will be in Holland hopefully to tell that we arrived safely.

Bye-bye

Good morning, Dirk and Jorina. It's very good, to read your notes this morning, when I came home from work in the nursing home. Maybe, we can talk English for a while, when you like it, in Holland. It's no problem. Have a good flight to Holland and we see each other as soon as possible. Try to sleep in the plane, because it's a new day, when you arrived at Schiphol. Beye beye! With love, your Mam.
